Step 1: Remove the granite countertop

Then, move the granite countertop to a suitable place where you will be able to work comfortably.

Step 2: Clean the countertop

The surface will probably be covered with dust. Take a clean rag and wipe the whole thing from top to bottom.

At first use sandpaper, which is medium grit, and then moves on to the fine-grit sandpaper.

The purpose of using sandpaper before laminating is to make the surface smoother. Always try to use microfiber cloth to wipe any extra dirt or clean the countertop.

Step 6: Laminate the granite countertop with a brush

You can use a paintbrush which will give you the best result.

Choose a thick paintbrush so that you can apply a sufficient amount of laminate glue at one strip. Apply the laminate glue and make a layer of coating.

Make sure that the coating is even at every part of the countertop. If you put a lot of laminate glue in one place, the surface will not be even anymore.

Step 7: Lay the laminate sheet over the coating

Be very careful while doing this part. Start from one edge of the countertop. Make sure that there is no air left between the laminate sheet and the coating.

Smooth the surface with rolling something heavy to make sure that there is no air left.

Step 8: Keep the granite countertop untouched for at least 2 days.

Don’t set the countertop back in the kitchen before 2 days. If you see that glue is stuck on the edge of the countertop, you can remove it by using acetone.

The component of acetone will help to liquefy the glue, and you will be able to remove it from the countertop easily.

You can polish granite countertops with hand by wiping the countertop with warm water and soap every other day.

Make a solution of warm water and mix some dishwashing soap in it. Take a clean piece of cloth and make sure that it is not made with any rough material.

After cleaning the countertop, give it some time to get dried. After that, spray sealant on the granite.

The sealant will keep the granite countertop shiny and polished. Use a spray bottle so that the sealant is sprayed evenly all over the surface.
