Zippers getting separated is one of the most common incidents that happen when we are in a hurry.
It can be quite frustrating to deal with a broken zipper slider. The good news is; you can fix a broken zipper if you know the right process.
The question is, how to repair a zipper? Below are the steps the will help you to repair a zipper easily.
How to Repair a Zipper
Step 1
The first step is to check what is the problem, which is making the zipper completely inactivate.
It is important to know about the problem before coming straight down to the solution.
Step 2
Sometimes, you will see that one of the teeth of the slider has to bend down which is preventing the zipper from working properly.
In this case, you will need a pair of pliers. It will help to position the tooth of the zipper like before. Also, you can try to straighten it with your fingers.
Step 3
You will need to squeeze the zipper by bringing the sliders closer. To do this, you can use a pair of pliers.
While squeezing the sliders, be careful that you don’t bring them too much close than needed.
Make sure that there is some space between the two sliders so that you can pull the zipper on comfortably.
Step 4
On the other hand, if the slider has been broken or came off, then you will need to follow another procedure.
The only solution here is to replace your old slider with a new one. Get a pair of pliers which will help you to cut the slider.
Now get a new zipper and attach it to the zipper by sliding it through the teeth of the zipper.
Step 5
If you don’t have a new zipper pull, you can use some other tools to keep the slider working. You can slide a paperclip or a wire to use as a zipper pull.
It will work better in case of bag chains where the pull won’t be seen from the outside. You can also use a keyring as well.
