How to Make DIY Homemade Shower Cleaner

Cleaning a bathroom can never be a pleasant job for anyone. If you are one of them, it is okay. I always keep procrastinating when it comes to clean my shower.

I really don’t like the chemical products that needed to be used to clean a shower. They smell, and I don’t feel safe to use them often.

However, I have come up with a DIY homemade shower cleaner that one of my friends suggested. I thought of giving it a try.

Well, I was amazed to see the result. You will only need a few ingredients to make your own DIY homemade shower cleaner.

Below, I will show you a few of the processes of making your own homemade shower cleaner.

How to Make DIY Homemade Shower Cleaner

The necessary ingredients to make the homemade shower cleaner

Fortunately, you will need a few regular items and ingredients for this. I am sure you already have these items in your storeroom.

At first, you will need a spray bottle. You can use any kind of spray bottle, but I will suggest you use the ones made of glass.

Then you will need white vinegar and a good quality dish soap. I use blue dawn dish soap for this process.

You should use both of these ingredients in an equal amount. For example, take one tablespoon of each based on your need.

Then, you will need a scrub brush and a funnel. You can also use any kind of essential oil.

I use lemon essential oil, which lets my shower smell good.

Making a homemade shower cleaner

Now that you have collected the supplies, it is time to make the shower cleaner. Take the spray bottle and fill it half with white vinegar.

You can use a funnel so that you don’t make a mess in your countertop.

Then, place it in the microwave and run the microwave for 1 or 2 minutes. After that, fill the spray bottle full with dawn dish soap.

At last, add 15 drops of lemon essential in the mixture. You can also use tree tea oil.

Now it is time to shake the mixture. You can let the mixture cool down for a bit before shaking.

Applying and cleaning with the shower cleaner

Now comes the main part. How to clean with this shower cleaner you just made. Well, the process is quite simple.

After making the cleaner, spray it all over your shower area. Make sure the mixture is still lukewarm. Wait for one hour.

Now clean the shower area by running hot water. It will remove the shower cleaner. Take a scrub brush and scrub the area well.

Focus more on the corners of your shower, which is probably the dirtiest place. You are done making the shower cleaner and clean with it.

Removing water stain and soap scum from the shower

You can make another homemade shower cleaner to remove the hard water stain and soap scum. The only ingredients you will need are water and vinegar.

Make a solution of 1 tablespoon of vinegar and 1 tablespoon of water. Pour the solution in a spray bottle.

After finishing your shower, spray the solution in the shower walls. Get a squeegee and wipe the dirt. If you regularly follow this, you will never get water stain or soap scum in the shower area.

Here, vinegar works as a great cleaner. As it is acidic, it will cut down all the ingredients of soap scup and water stain.

Your shower will never look clean if you have a water stain on it.

After taking a shower, I clean the area with this homemade shower cleaner. I have been doing it for over a month, and I am not disappointed with the result.

Prevent mold and mildew growth with this homemade shower cleaner

If your shower tends to grow mold and mildew for some reason, I have a solution for you. This homemade shower cleaner will help you to prevent mold and mildew growth.

Before I moved to the new apartment, my bathroom used to have this mold and mildew issue, which I hated.

I asked one of my aunts, and she suggested a DIY homemade cleaner that will prevent the growth of the mold and mildew.

You will need around 2 tablespoons of white vinegar, 15 drops of essential oil, lemon, and tea tree oil each. Mix them with water.

Pour the mixture in a spray bottle. Use the mixture twice every week. And there will be no mold or mildew in your bathroom.

Clean your shower occasionally with baking soda

As I said earlier, you should use the homemade shower cleaner every day to prevent mold growth or soap scum. The cleaner will keep the shower clean and sparkly.

If you want to go a step further, you can use baking soda twice a month to clean your shower.

Make a mixture with two cups of baking soda and a few drops of dawn dish soap. After making the paste, use a sponge to clean the shower area.

After scrubbing the shower with the mixture, running water. Do this twice a month, and your shower will always be sparkly and clean.

I use baking soda to clean my shower once a while because baking soda is a cleaning agent that helps to get rid of stubborn dirt.

Clean other parts of your shower as well

While cleaning the shower area, you should focus on your glass shower door and curtains as well. You can clean these parts with homemade cleaners as well.

Take a small bowl and add baking soda and water. Get a sponge and use the paste to clean your glass door.

Spray some vinegar after scrubbing. Do the same for the shower curtain as well.

That is how you can clean the shower with your own homemade cleaners. I love these homemade shower cleaners as they are so cheap to make.

You will be satisfied once you start using these natural ingredients rather than conventional cleaning products.
