It’s okay. We all have been there. As a mother, I have a lot of responsibilities every day. I have to work and take care of my kids.
I feel overwhelmed at times, but I don’t let it make me feel down.
Don’t feel guilty if you are in a completely unorganized and uncleaned home. Every one of us has a lot going on in our lives.
Being consistent with cleaning a house is a tough thing to maintain. I have struggled for a long period of time when it comes to cleaning my house.
Well, nothing is impossible, and you can push yourself a bit and achieve anything you want to. Don’t beat yourself up and accept yourself.
If you want to clean your house, but you don’t have any idea where to begin, I am here to make your life a little bit easier. These cleaning hacks should help you to clean your house.
I have made a step by step guide for you so that you do not feel overwhelmed with the whole idea.
Best Cleaning Hacks When You Don’t Know Where to Begin
Step 1: Make yourself a cleaning routine – a simple one
If you have no idea how or where to begin cleaning your house, I will suggest you make a cleaning routine. Start with a basic one.
For example, keep Sundays and Wednesdays of every week to vacuum your house. Organize your closet on a specific day every month.
Run the dishwasher each night and empty them each morning. These little habits will definitely make a change in your cleaning routine.
Don’t overwhelm yourself with too much work from the beginning. Make a simple routine and go further if you can cope up.
Also, make a realistic one so that you can achieve it.
Step 2: Turn your living room into your own heaven
I spend most of my time in the living room. It is the one place that I love most about my house.
You can start cleaning the living room by picking up things from the floor. If you have a kid, you should relate to what I am talking about.
Pick up your kid’s toys and put them in a basket. Then, go to the center table if you have any. Sort all of your paperwork.
Sort out the mails and put away the old newspapers. Take a clean piece of cloth or rag and remove the dust from all the furniture with it.
Organize the pillow and throw the covers in the washing machine if needed.
Step 3: Decorate and clean your front door area
I love to make people feel welcomed whenever they come to my house. I believe that your front door area should always be neat and clean.
Start with the door. Wipe away the dust from your door. Make the lock and handle shiny by washing them.
Decorate a wreath and hang it in your front door even if it is not Christmas. Clean the area regularly. Also, remove the paper clutter from the countertop near your front door area.
I have a mirror there, and I clean it regularly, which looks amazing in my front door area.
Step 4: Move on to your bedroom
After you are done cleaning your living room, it is time to look at the bedroom. First thing first – clean and make your bed.
You should make a habit of making your bed every morning after you wake up. Make it a part of your daily morning routine.
Remove that pile of clothes from the chair. Place a laundry basket in your bedroom with a lid. Store all of your dirty clothes there.
Vacuum and mop the floor regularly. I am not suggesting you do that every day, that is completely unnecessary.
But your bedroom should always be cleaned. Also, clean the bedsheets once in a while. A dirty bedsheet never looks good, nor is it healthy.
Step 5: Clean your kitchen every day – Make it a habit
When it comes to the kitchen, cleaning becomes a bit more difficult. Start with your countertop. Clean the countertop as you go.
After you are done cooking, take some dish soap and wipe the countertop with it. Clean the stovetop at least twice a week.
As I said earlier, run the dishwasher every night, and don’t forget to empty it every morning. It will help you to save a lot of time.
Clean your trash can and get rid of that bad smell. Make sure you don’t clog the drain of your kitchen. If the drain has become clogged, use some baking soda and vinegar to unclog it.
Step 6: Know the right way of cleaning a bathroom
Don’t forget about your bathroom. Your bathroom needs a thorough cleaning as well. Clean your toilet bowl every now and then.
Clean the grout with hydrogen peroxide and scrub it with an old toothbrush.
Remove soap scum and hard water stain from the bathtub and faucets. You can use make a mixture of vinegar and water for this process.
It would be great if you can make a habit of spraying the mixture in your shower area or bathtub after getting a shower.
Your bathroom will always look sparkly.
Step 7: Don’t forget about your closet
Last but not least, organize and clean your closet. Your house will never look clean or organized if you have a messy closet.
Make sure you organize and clean your closet once every month. You can also try decluttering. Throw away or donate the things you will never wear anymore.
It will save you a lot of space, and your bedroom will look clean and organized.
I used to get overwhelmed with keeping my house cleaned just after I gave birth to my baby boy. I had too much going on.
Over time, I got used to it by taking one step at a time. Follow these steps, and I am sure you will become an expert in cleaning and organizing.
